Domaine Duroché Gevrey-Chambertin

Pierre Duroche is arguably the best young winemaker in burgundy- Tim Atkin MW

Pierre makes wines of great elegance and finesse. The aromatics burst forth on release of the cork to reveal a wine that has the texture of a classic pinot combined with the minerality and tension coming from the fact that most of his parcels are very old. The best part about his wines are that they are approachable in their youth but also have ageing potential.

Pierre is the 5th generation of his family to run the Domaine which saw them first bottle their wines back in 1933. The Domaine is of a reasonable size with holdings of 8.25 Ha all in the commune of Gevrey-Chambertin comprising village, Premier Cru and Grand Cru wines.

His wines are bound to lift you and bring a smile to your face. I am a big fan of all his wines which never fail to delight.

Tim Atkin MW in his Burgundy 2011 and 2012 Special Reports includes Domaine Duroche in his top 25 Producers alongside Domaine de la Romanee-Conti, Armand Rousseau, Georges Roumier and Coche-Dury.

"Let me just say ... Pierre has really taken this estate to a whole other level." - Winehog.

What needs to be said??? 2016 has topped 2015 as the best vintage made by Pierre - this chap can do no wrong. Barrel tasting last year has confirmed the supremacy here. '16s feel like the best of both 2014 and 2015. The hype is REAL!!!

"This is a really spectacular range of wines but please note that the volumes in each case are small, sometimes minuscule." - Jasper Morris

“It was an exemplary set of 2016s from Duroché, whose ascent in recent years has been astonishing and, in my opinion, thoroughly deserved. This vintage will merely enhance their reputation, and against expectation, I often found them even better than the 2015s I tasted twelve months ago...”
